Fairy lights create a magical atmosphere at Christmas. But what happens to the fairy lights if they are broken?

Fairy lights must not be disposed of with household waste as they consist of electrical components and are therefore classified as electronic waste. Both older light chains that still contain incandescent lamps and newer models with LED candles can be disposed of at the local recycling center, in the electronics store or at participating retailers.
